lazarusgirl:

The extraordinary stories of ordinary people whose lives were transformed during the First World War will be told in their own words in a landmark new series for ITV, made in partnership with Imperial War Museums

N.B. The series title has now reverted to what was originally slated, so as to tie in with the accompanying memoir of the same name.

Amongst the featured stories in epsiode one is the correspondence between Alan Lloyd (Matthew McNulty), writing to his young wife Dorothy (Lily Loveless) while fighting on the battlefields of Ypres.

Alternate Trailer for WW1: The People’s War
Contains slightly different footage than the one that appeared in late June. As you’ll see, it displays the project’s original title of ‘The Great War: The People’s Story,’ which ties into the Isobel Charman book the series is based upon. Not sure as to why the title was changed or indeed if it will stick.

"One of the best things about acting is being on set. It is so much fun. It’s also very cool to see the finished product. I feel so filled doing it. I’m really lucky." -Happy 24th Birthday, Lily May Loveless (16 April, 1990)
